Years ago we owned a car like this one, I still remember the musty smell, the big steering wheel that made you feel like you were in a truck (the heavy steering helped with that feeling), the way I almost had to stand up to use the clutch, the handbreak that was so far to the right I almost couldn’t reach it and that meant that I could never drive up a steep hill by myself, the windscreen wiper (just 1!) that had a motor that would stop whenever the rain was too persistent so you’d have to wipe by hand, the fact that you could put a bicycle standing up behind the driver’s seat it was sooo wide, the vacation driving from Sheerness to Lands End in England, the fact we were driven to church in this car when we married, so many memories…sadly also very much money that went into the upkeep of this car…too much in the end to be fun anymore so we sold it in the nineties.

Yesterday I went to Arnemuiden with son 4 and the singer of the band 2nd chance5 and a lot of equipment in the back of the car.
Son 4 plays bass-guitar in this punk grunge rock band.
They were allowed to make a video clip inside an over 200-year-old workshop here: werfarnemuiden
I think they were very lucky to be allowed to do this, it is a beautiful location, and they had a great time making photo’s and filming.
don’t you just love the little pink keytar?
I am mourning
Mourning the dead and the living
Mourning the unforgiving
The ones that ran away
The ones that never made it
That may have faked it
Who, in the end, had nothing more to say
The music has died down
The players have left
The lyrics have dried up
There is no more sound
Feels like soultheft
The end of the road can not be seen yet
Where will I go from here
I’m as shaken as I can get
I crumble when I lose one so dear
Uncertain of how to be
I sit here wondering how
The causes I still can’t see
Not sure what to think of you now
Of one thing I am sure
I will not be running
I am here
Today another view of my new surroundings. The other day I have shown you where I go for a walk when I leave from the front of the house. This is where I go when I walk from the back of the house towards the town centre. Sadly it’s just a bit too far to walk to the shops so I sit on a bench and look out over the water with the ducks and swans on it and watch the traffic go past.
We have several black swans in our town swimming in the moat where the fortified city-walls used to be (across the water)
We live just outside the old city-walls in a neighbourhood that was built just after the second world war
It’s a lovely view don’t you think?
I have easter on my mind! I am knitting some sweet decorations to decorate the small metal tree in my window.
The small knitted birds aren’t finished yet, they will get felt beaks, wings and tails and will be decorated with beads. The pattern came from Let’s Knit magazine.
The other day I was given a gift-card by my mother in law for an online bookstore. I used it to get Arne & Carlos breien op hun paasbest (or : knitting for easter) Lovely book full of great pictures and patterns for knitting easter eggs, easterbunny, chicken and egg-sweaters.
I accidently hit “flash” on my camera so not all photo’s looked so great, but here’s an example made just with stripey sock yarn.
With the same yarn I covered a measuring tape
I’m also still working on this
Add to that a cardigan in progress and I guess I’m working on too many projects at the same time again.
Have a lovely day
Old snapshot in the paper
wedding suit on
looking like an actor in a silent picture show
who is this man
I know him not
what did he contemplate
what did he envision
but he knows me not
played with the damsel
never with the butterfly
doing chores together
somewhere it went wrong
it got stuck
seemed to love the damsel
wants nothing to do with the woman
forever looking for approval
feels like a piece is missing
why not see me as I am
image in the paper
just a man in a snap
don’t really know him
before long you will be doddering
soon we will be alien eternally
Last saturday we made a trip to the thriftshop to get a new ashtray and found the following items
A lovely cake plate from Flora Holland for just 1 euro
This beautiful champagne glass with ribbons and birds engraved on it for 50 eurocents
And of course the glass ashtray we were looking for 75 eurocents
the doily I made the other day
Looking at the photo I think I should block this actually, it looks a bit crumpled this way.
