A very good morning to all.

It’s another beautiful spring morning over here and I’ve done my exercises (5 more repeats! 1 extra exercise). I’m ready for another day with my nose stuck in papers getting ready for a telephone meeting with our lawyer (sorry can’t reveal what it’s about yet, you never know who’s reading your blog after all) This time I’ll be sure to take my work outside to enjoy the lovely weather.

I’m still working on my peg bag project and I hope to be able to have it finished by the beginning of next week

Hubby has bought me this to add some colour to the garden

I also have some runner beans on a saucer in the windowsill to sprout and later put in big pots

Dear daughter in law asked me what I want for my birthday in April…

at first I said I would like to have this

It’s made out of willow and would be stronger than the bark ones we have now. But then we unexpectedly received some vouchers for the local nursery and I can now buy them myself.

So I have been thinking about a wish list and this is what will be on it for sure…I’ve fallen in love with Namaste bags. Normally I don’t care much about the latest fashion and accessories. I can’t afford to buy anything new so I just do my own thing and use what I like, not what fashion dictates. But for Namaste I will make an exception as they have bags that are very useful for a crafter like me and look just beautiful

This is what I would love to own

It’s for circular knitting needles

For all knitting/sewing/embroidery notions

I’m sure I could fill this up quite easily as well, don’t you just love the colours? As you may have noticed looking at my hair 🙂 I love bright colours and having never been a girly girl before I now, at 47, suddenly love feminine things and pinks

I’ll share some of the other things on my list later

have a nice day

Bittersweet memories

Hi everyone,

Being sore and stiff from falling yesterday I’ve been sat at the computer most of this morning sorting out cdr’s and looking at old pictures, I’ve also sorted out the scarves and hats that can go into storage until next winter. Both of those chores invoked a lot of memories:

In 2001 I used to do a lot of weaving, Most of it I gave away but these scarves were for my sons and me, they have been worn well. Lots of happy memory’s…

We had an old caravan on a piece of wasteland where we stayed during the daytime and weekends together with a group of artists. Hubby designed the pattern on the caravan and the whole family helped painting the colours with carpaint from the seventies.

This was our bicycle, he painted that as well and he still has it. Son 4 was just four years old then and he would sit in the crate when his dad took him to school.

Some more pic’s taken during a community project we did with this group in the spot where vandals had burnt a school and community centre down.

Hubby, me, son 4 and two of our dogs watching capoeira.

And son 2,3 and 4 and me holding Mushu watching panna.

While looking through all the photographs I found lot’s of doggypic’s from the time I used to breed Shih tzu dogs. So here come lot’s of cute little puppypic’s and some of my beloved Mushu.

Sometimes you just have a special bond.

Below cute pic’s of son 3’s dog Chewbacca – Mushu’s son growing up

Just a little baby, eyes still closed

Brianna’s brother at 8 weeks

Brianna’s tiny sister at 5 weeks old and learning to walk on a leash. And this is why I don’t breed dogs anymore: such small dogs means having to bend down a lot.

Enough cuteness!

In going through the scarves a failed project turned up: slippers made from wool that wouldn’t felt:

New excercises and another card

I learned two more exercises this morning, this one:

and :

I didn’t find them hard to do. This time I did 10 repeats so I hope I won’t be sore tomorrow and will be able to continue with the excercises every day. It has been a few years since I have been able to excercise a little so I will take my time to slowly get my muscles used to doing some work again. But boy am I happy to be able to do this!

I’ve been faithfully working on my cardigan, a few rows every day and have finally reached the point where the stocking stitch ends and I have to continue in rib pattern.

Yesterday I started on a new cross stitch card. This one is a bit more work but I do hope to finish it today.

Short night, excitement/Korte nacht, spanning en sensatie

This morning I am up blogging at 7.

It was a short night and everyone else is still (or again) sleeping, but couldn’t sleep anymore since quarter to five so I decided to get up and blog instead.

Unfortunately my neighbour has problems with his drug-using son who keeps pestering and threatening him. At the moment the son is homeless so he’s out and about on the street day and night and this morning he was here again: I woke up hearing a loud bang and then the dogs started barking, looked out the window and saw the affore mentioned son getting on his bike and driving off. I didn’t hear anything nextdoor so I concluded that either my neighbour wasn’t at home or that something had happened to him. Hubby got out of bed to take a look outside…the son had thrown a brick through my neighbour’s window. His car wasn’t parked in his usual spot so we thought he was not at home. So we called the police . Then we had to make a statement of course and before we got back in bed it was after half past 5. Hubby luckily went right back to sleep, but I heard the neighbour, who had been at home but hadn’t heard a thing, open the door for the police and walking around the house and so I was wide awake. I fear that I will be needing a nap later today, because I didn’t go to bed early and less than 5 hour’s sleep is defenitely not enough for me.

I’m glad son 3 and son 4 didn’t hear a thing and slept through the whole thing. And we have locked the garden gate for the first time ever. Not that we have anything to fear from the neighbour’s son but he could get in his dad’s garden through our garden and that is something we would rather prevent.

Now some less depressing news;

I have finished the facecloth…

Het waslapje is af…

and I have knitted a few rows on my cardigan, I have to finish it someday I guess.

I started on callanetics, but a bit overenthousiastic for my untrained body it seems because the muscles in my hands, arms and shoulders ache and they are not supposed to. Apparantly it does work and there’s not much effort involved. So now I will do 10 repeats instead of the 25 untill I get used to moving this body again, because I do want to persevere.

What I’m working on/Waar ben ik mee bezig

It’s bright sunny sundaymorning and time for my first post.

The title is a bit odd actually, because I’m not working on anything at the moment.

This is what I made this past week:

Son 3 needed a present for a friend who has just become a dad.

The pattern and wool came free with ‘let’s knit’ and I made the socks from the leftover yarn.

From another issue of ‘let’s knit’ I made a bib. I used Phildar cotton with aloë vera for this. Lovely to work with, só soft on your hands.

Some time ago I had also started on a facecloth made with leftover cotton from my ‘stash’ but because I fell ill it was left lying about. Yesterday I finally started working on it again and now it’s finished. Now there’s just one more UFO waiting to be finished: a cardigan knitten in the round. That will be waiting a bit longer, because I am still very tired and dread to have such a big project in my hands.

Yesterday the new ‘let’s knit’ magazine was in the mail so maybe there will be something smaller in there to start on?

Or I could start on the lampshade for a lamp I found in the Dorcas charityshop yesterday.

Nice lamp and extraordinary lampshade (oval) but whát a combination! This definitely needs a different fabric.
